Why is our school named "Australia"?

An overview by Principal Sra Celiria Muñoz Muñoz.

The school E-145 Australia is a educational establishment that belongs to the city of Traiguén, Region IX of the Araucanía. The School was officially opened on the seventh day of March, 1890.

In 1990, the School was legally named "Australia" by the parents and guardians of the students of the School, the teachers, and the residents of the city of Traiguén. The adoption of this name is in recognition, by residents of Traiguén, of the Australian cultural tradition, language and the generous solidarity to welcome the Chilean people in Australia.

The name of the school "Australia" was declared by law No 406, in 1992 by the Education Department, and was published on the first of March 1993 in the National official gazette.

March 2004 visit - The School Community is very grateful to our Australian friends Noeline Gentle, Neil Gentle and Christina Refshauge for the great support to our English program.
